Shokran has chosen DFNS. Shokran is building something the global financial system has largely failed to offer: a simple way for Muslim families to send money home, top up, and manage their everyday finances, all inside the apps they already use and without compromising on their values. When your product is trust structured by faith, ethics, and regulation at the same time, the layer that holds balances, moves value, and enforces the rules is where every one of those promises is kept. That layer now runs on DFNS.

## Shokran, ethical finance for the people banks overlook

Shokran is an embedded halal wallet, a licensed financial layer that Islamic and lifestyle apps add behind a single button, giving their users a Sharia-compliant wallet without either side building a bank from scratch. Inside, users top up instantly with USDT, convert 1:1 to USD, and send money to family and friends across 72 countries, free between Shokran users, or internationally by bank account or mobile wallet. Verification runs in about three minutes with Sumsub, and the same infrastructure now powers a Banking-as-a-Service model that lets partner apps embed the entire flow through Shokran's API. It’s built for the choice millions of Muslims already make, financial products that don't ask them to compromise on their faith to use them.

The commitment to Islamic finance is structural.

* No Riba: Shokran neither charges nor pays interest.
* No Gharar: uncertainty is minimized by design.
* No Maysir: prohibited industries are avoided.
* A dedicated Shariah supervisory board reviews that every service aligns with Islamic law, and every transaction passes compliance verification, with KYC, KYB, and KYT run with Sumsub to global standards.

The regulatory footprint matches the ambition. Shokran operates under a Labuan FSA license for Islamic money-broking business, holds money-broking and payment system operator authorizations, maintains a Canadian MSB registration, and delivers banking services through partner financial institutions including Zand Bank. It’s a multi-jurisdiction structure serving a multi-trillion-dollar industry, Islamic finance, and its digital, consumer-facing edge is only now being built.

## What DFNS runs for Shokran

DFNS is the core banking platform for digital assets: the operating layer between Shokran's platform and the networks its digital asset services run on. For a business like Shokran's, that layer has a precise job.

Accounts and wallets are provisioned programmatically for Shokran's flows, with the transaction lifecycle, construction, signing, broadcast, tracking, and real-time webhooks, managed end to end across networks and stablecoins. Treasury tooling manages balances and liquidity across currencies and rails.

The Policy Engine is where Shokran's standards become enforced. Limits, allowlists, approval quorums, and screening are applied below the API, before anything is signed, which gives Shokran a programmable surface for its own rules: which assets may be touched, which counterparties are permissible, who must approve what. Its compliance team and its Shariah supervisory board set the rulings; the infrastructure makes them binding rather than aspirational, and every action lands in a complete, exportable audit trail, evidence for a regulator, an auditor, or the board itself.

## An architecture in natural alignment

One thing should be said precisely: DFNS holds no Sharia certification and claims none. Rulings on compliance with Islamic law belong to scholars and to Shokran's supervisory board. What DFNS offers is an architecture whose structural properties align naturally with the mandate. DFNS is strictly a technology provider and takes no custody of client assets, lends nothing, rehypothecates nothing, and pays and charges no interest anywhere in its model. Pricing is transparent software pricing, with no fees on assets and no cut of transaction volume. Control remains with Shokran and its clients.

Transparency, non-custody, no interest, and demonstrable control: for a platform answerable to a Shariah board and to regulators on two continents, those are not marketing properties. They are the preconditions.

## Ethical finance, running on evidence

Shokran's thesis is that Muslims everywhere should not have to choose between modern financial infrastructure and their values, and that the apps they already use every day are the natural place to offer it to them. DFNS's thesis is that institutions should not have to choose between moving fast onchain and proving control. The two fit together naturally: Shokran defines what ethical finance requires, and DFNS provides the operating layer that holds it to account, accounts, transactions, treasury, policy, and evidence, end to end. To the people across MENA and beyond that the system overlooked: the infrastructure being built for you is real. We are proud to be part of it.
