DFNS now supports Monad with full Tier-1 integration. Institutions on DFNS can hold, move and govern assets on Monad with the same platform, API and controls they already use on every other network.

One of them is already preparing to build there. StraitsX, a Singapore-based payments infrastructure provider and issuer of the XSGD and XUSD stablecoins and a DFNS client, plans to issue both stablecoins natively on Monad in early 2027, subject to applicable regulatory and compliance requirements. We tell that story in a companion post published today, [Partnering with StraitsX](https://www.dfns.co/article/partnering-with-straitsx).

## What is Monad?

Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain that rebuilt how the Ethereum Virtual Machine executes transactions, while staying fully compatible with Ethereum. Most EVM chains process transactions one after another. Monad runs independent transactions at the same time and only reruns the few that conflict, so the result is exactly what Ethereum would produce, just much faster.

Mainnet has been live since 24 November 2025. Its developer, Category Labs (formerly Monad Labs), raised $225 million in April 2024 in a round led by Paradigm. According to Monad's documentation, the network is designed for 10,000 transactions per second, produces a block every 300 milliseconds and reaches finality in 600 milliseconds. Uniswap, Curve and Morpho were among the first protocols to deploy there.

A few characteristics stand out.

* **Parallel execution.** Transactions that do not depend on each other run at the same time, and Ethereum's results are preserved exactly.
* **Full compatibility with Ethereum.** Monad is bytecode-compatible with Ethereum and exposes the standard Ethereum RPC, so existing contracts deploy as they are and wallets only need a new RPC URL and chain ID.
* **Fast finality.** MonadBFT, its consensus protocol, produces blocks every 300 milliseconds and finalizes them in 600 milliseconds.
* **Low fees.** Transactions typically cost a fraction of a cent.
* **MON as the native token.** MON pays for gas and secures the network through staking.

## Why DFNS and Monad fit together

At Monad's speed, a payment company or a stablecoin issuer can settle onchain at the pace of a payments network, with fees close to zero. What Monad does not provide is the layer a regulated business needs on top of it. That means accounts, policies, treasury and a record a supervisor will accept.

That is what DFNS brings. Because Monad is compatible with Ethereum, institutions get everything DFNS offers on EVM networks from the first day. That includes token standards, smart contract calls through [Bring Your Own ABI](https://www.dfns.co/article/byoabi), the Tokenization Engine for issuing assets, and the [Policy Engine](https://www.dfns.co/article/policy-engine-4-0), which checks approvals, limits, allowlists and screening before anything is signed.

## StraitsX on Monad

StraitsX shows how institutional stablecoin infrastructure could develop on Monad. On 1 October, StraitsX announced its plan to issue XSGD and XUSD natively on Monad in early 2027, subject to regulatory and compliance requirements. XSGD would become the first Singapore dollar-denominated stablecoin issued natively on the network.

StraitsX entities are licensed as Major Payment Institutions under Singapore's Payment Services Act 2019. XSGD and XUSD are fully reserved stablecoins and are recognised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to be substantively compliant with the upcoming Single-Currency Stablecoin regulatory framework.

StraitsX intends to explore how XSGD and XUSD could support future payment and settlement applications across the Monad ecosystem. Potential areas include cross-border payment and settlement flows and card programs that may use XSGD or XUSD as part of their underlying settlement infrastructure. Any such products or services will be subject to further assessment and applicable regulatory, compliance and partner requirements before rollout.

As a DFNS client, StraitsX is preparing its Monad pilot on DFNS, with DFNS providing the wallet, tokenization and policy infrastructure and StraitsX retaining issuance, reserves and regulatory responsibilities.

## Full Tier-1 support on DFNS

DFNS provides full Tier-1 support for Monad:

* **Wallet creation.** Create wallets instantly through the API or the dashboard.
* **Native transfers.** Send and receive MON.
* **Token transfers.** Move stablecoins and tokenized assets issued on Monad.
* **Smart contract execution.** Call any Monad contract with Bring Your Own ABI, including issuance contracts.
* **Transaction broadcast.** Submit transactions to the network.
* **Secure signing.** Sign through DFNS key infrastructure, with no single point of failure.
* **Balance retrieval.** Check balances across all your wallets.
* **Webhook notifications.** Receive real-time updates on transactions and balances.

## Use cases

1. **Stablecoin issuance and distribution.** Issue and move regulated stablecoins on Monad, with minting, burning and transfers governed by institutional policies and controls.
2. **High volume payments.** Settle payouts and collections at Monad's speed, with fees that stay low even under heavy load.
3. **Card settlement.** Settle card programs in stablecoins on a network built for the volume card payments generate.
4. **Treasury and tokenization.** Manage assets and issue tokenized products across Monad's growing ecosystem, under institutional controls.

Monad joins more than 100 blockchain networks supported on DFNS, the core banking platform behind over 500 banks, fintechs, payment companies and institutions worldwide.
