Eric Amlie introduced hardware-backed, phishing-resistant MFA at a crypto company in 2015, years before it became standard practice. That's the kind of person who runs identity at DFNS. Welcome Eric Amlie, our new Tech Ops Manager on the security team. Eric has spent more than a decade making sure the right people, and only the right people, can reach the systems that matter.

## A career built on identity

Eric has spent more than a decade making sure only the right people can reach the systems that matter, and he has done it at every stage a company goes through.

He was the first IT hire at Paper, where he built identity and IT operations from nothing and scaled the function to five engineers across the US and Canada, centralizing access control across Google Workspace, AWS, Jira, and Slack under a single source of truth and designing a security framework to SOC 2 and FERPA requirements. At Jetty, as TechOps Manager, he migrated 160 users and 50 applications from OneLogin to Okta Identity Engine in a single week, executed entirely after hours with zero downtime, then ran Okta as code through Terraform, automated joiner-mover-leaver workflows over SCIM to cut manual provisioning by roughly 70%, and designed attribute-driven role-based access that reduced unauthorized-access incidents by 40%. Most recently, at Ophelia, he automated the full user lifecycle across Entra ID and Google Workspace, hardened a healthcare-grade environment to HIPAA and SOC 2 controls, and authored the company's SOC 2 readiness roadmap.

Before that came WalkMe, where his Okta Workflows automation cut access-related tickets by 40% and new-hire setup time by more than half, and, earlier still, three years as IT Engineering Manager at ConsenSys during Ethereum's formative period. There he ran IAM for global teams across New York, San Francisco, and the UK, restructured administrative rights to least privilege, and introduced YubiKey hardware authentication for senior leadership and frequent travelers, enforcing phishing-resistant MFA on the highest-risk accounts years before it became standard practice. His grounding goes back further, to network administration for 600 users at Finn Partners and IT engineering at Shapeways.

## Why it matters here

DFNS asks a lot of its clients' identity and access controls. We tell banks that access is not permission, that separation of duties should be a property of the system, and that offboarding a person from an entire estate should be one action, immediately complete and logged. A company that claims those things has to live them internally.

Our own security posture is part of our product. Every action on the platform is signed with phishing-resistant credentials, every control is enforced below the API, and our SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, 27017, and 27018 certifications are examined continuously rather than annually. The internal systems behind that posture, who can reach what, from which device, under which policy, with which evidence, have to be as rigorous as the platform itself. Eric spent a decade building exactly those systems, and he introduced hardware-backed, phishing-resistant authentication at a crypto company in 2015. He does not need convincing that identity is the perimeter.

## What Eric will own

Eric will run technology operations for DFNS under the security team. Identity and access management for every employee and system, device and endpoint security, the lifecycle automation that ensures nobody keeps access they no longer need, and the operational evidence our auditors and our clients' due-diligence teams ask for as the company grows across 7 offices and 4 continents. He works directly with me, and with the engineers who build the controls we sell, so that the standards we hold ourselves to and the standards we ship remain one and the same.
